Started University
I enrolled in the Telecommunications and Electronics department at Tishreen University's Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in my home country, Syria. During my studies, competitive programming and ICPC contests sparked my interest in software engineering.
Competed at ACPC
This was my first trip outside Syria. I had previously competed in the regional contest in 2017, participating remotely from a site in Syria. We did reasonably well, though we felt we could have done better.
Graduated from University
I graduated with a GPA of 3.16 out of 4.0
Started My First Job at SCASE
After graduation, I joined SCASE Ltd in Syria as a Research and Development Engineer, developing tools and services for the Intenta S-2000 sensor platform.
Started a Master's Program
While working full time, I also began a full-time master's program in Telecommunications. I passed eight of eleven courses in my first year, but later left the program to pursue an opportunity in Germany.
Left SCASE
After two years and two months at SCASE, I left my role to prepare for a move abroad. Years of civil war had made life in Syria increasingly difficult, and I decided it was time to leave my home country.
Moved to Dubai
Dubai was the most accessible option for leaving Syria. I spent two months there looking for work and eventually found an opportunity in Germany.
Moved to Germany and Joined Freiheit.com
I moved to Germany and joined Freiheit.com Technologies GmbH as a full-stack software engineer, working with multiple teams and international clients. Settling in a new country and working on projects across different technology stacks made this one of the most formative experiences of my life.
Resigned from Freiheit.com
In June 2026, I submitted my resignation. After nearly three years with the company, I felt ready for a change.
Looking for My Next Role
After completing my notice period, I am now looking for my next opportunity in software engineering.
